1.36 tons of drugs seized in HCM City in 2019

VGP – Police force in Ho Chi Minh City seized more than 356 kg of heroin, 1.36 tons of synthetic drug, 5.8 kg of cocaine and 40.8 kg of cannabis in 2019. 

The information was released at a meeting on January 13 reviewing drug prevention and control works in Ho Chi Minh City. 

Speaking at the event, director for the city’s department of public security Le Dong Phong said that crimes has been controlled and reduced in the fifth successive year. In 2019, crimes reduced by 7.35% compared to the previous year. 

As many as 4,422 social order and safety violation crimes were recorded in the city while 3,372 cases were detected. 

Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City’s Party’s Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan proposed the city plan to establish the drug prevention and control master plan for the 2020-2025 period. 

Minister of Public Security To Lam asked the city to take measures to effectively prevent drug supply in the city as the number of drug addicts in the city hit 25,000.
