More than 2,300 communes, wards recording no drug crimes

VGP – As many as 235,314 drug addicts in Viet Nam have had management profiles, according to the Ministry of Public Security. 

Among 11,155 communes and wards nationwide, 2,334 have recorded no drug addicts, making up 20.9% while 8,821 have reported drug crimes, accounting for 79.1%. 

10,215 more drug addicts have management profiles in 2020, up 4.54% from 2018 while the number of wards and communes announcing drug crimes has witnessed a decrease of 8.22% or a reduction of 209 ones. 

According to the project on improvement of drug prevention and control at wards and communes of the Ministry of Public Security, the number of drug crimes at wards and communes will be reduced by 5% this year. 

Otherwise, 100% of high-risk people are communicated and educated on skills on drug prevention and control. 

80% of drug addicts and users have management profiles or get access to rehabilitation and treatment services. 

Each year, 5-10% of drug-dealing sites will be eliminated, heading to the target of no hotspots on drug nationwide by 2020.

In addition, the project also strives to erase the illegal growing of plants containing narcotic.
