More than 235,000 drug addicts have management profiles

VGP – The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has issued a plan on reviewing detoxification and post-detoxification management works during the 2016-2020 period. 

The plan aims to look into the implementation and outcomes of measures on detoxification and post-detoxification management works till 2020, thus proposing tasks and measures on post-detoxification for the 2021-2025 period. 

As of November 2019, as many as 235,314 drug addicts had management profiles, an increase of 10,215 compared to the same period in 2018. 

The number of drug addicts saw an annual increase of 10,000 ones while crimes related to drug users such as theft, robbery and murder have risen, affecting social order and safety and socio-economic development. 

As by April 30, 2020, a total number of 97 public treatment facilities and 16 volunteering treatment facilities have been licensed to operate, providing treatment for 34,982 ones. 

Regarding rehabilitation at families and community, 13 provinces and localities have provided treatment for 1,711 drug users while 17 localities have launched Methadone therapy for 3,162 ones. 

100% of drug addicts or 23,462 who had undergone detoxification are being controlled at community.
