Professional equipment applied in fight against drug-related crime

VGP - A coordination regulation on research and application of scientific and technological advances to the production and use of professional equipment and combat gears in the fight against drug-related crime was signed on May 13 in Ha Noi.

The agreement was inked by the Investigation Police Department on Drug-related Crimes and the Institute of Science and Technology (IST) under the Ministry of Public Security.

In 2017, the Investigation Police Department on Drug-related Crimes and the Institute of Technology, Chemicals, Biology and Professional Documents (the forerunner of the IST) signed a coordination regulation on researching, manufacturing and using professional equipment and combat gears in the fight against drug-related crime. 

After three years of implementing the regulation, the two agencies have exchanged and provided information and documents regularly, contributing to improving technical equipment and efficiency of drug prevention and control.

At the signing ceremony, representatives of the two agencies signed the new coordination regulation on research and application of technology to production and use of professional equipment and combat gears in the fight against drug-related crime.

The same day, Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, Deputy Minister of Public Security chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee of the Ministry of Public Security’s Program "Applying scientific and technological advances in fighting drug-related crimes in the period of 2020 - 2025”.

The Deputy Minister also asked the Steering Committee to learn experience and practices on drug crime prevention and combat from foreign countries to find out appropriate solutions to current issues in Vietnam.

He also highlighted the importance of continuously improving the quality of their current equipment while trying to research and develop new technologies for drug prevention and combat as well as expanding international cooperation in preventing and fighting drug-related crimes in the time to come.By Thuy Dung
