VGP – As of October 2019, a total number of 11,227 HIV carriers were recorded in the southern province of An Giang, of whom 8,660 ones developed full-blown AIDS, according to the province’s disease control center.

Currently, the province is home to 5,773 alive HIV carriers, of whom 4,771 ones have been treated at outpatient clinics in the province.

The number of new HIV carriers in the province tended to decrease from 293 cases in 2015 to 193 ones over the recent nine months of 2019.

The number of people developing full-blown AIDS dropped, from 224 in 2015 to 62 in nine months of 2019.

To end HIV/AIDS by 2030, An Giang Province will soon launch more measures synchronously and drastically to support HIV carriers, prevent discriminations against HIV/AIDS and control HIV/AIDS transmissions in the community.
