Cao Bang heads to end mother-to-child HIV transmissions

VGP – The northern province of Cao Bang targets to ensure all the local people, especially pregnant women, new-born babies and children to get access to services and interventions on eliminating HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B by 2030. 

As of June 2019, a total number of 2,339 HIV carriers were recorded in the province, including 1,656 ones developing with AIDS and 1,279 deaths of AIDS. 

As many as 1,060 alive HIV carriers received treatment, including 21 alive children. 

In 2018, 33 new HIV carriers were found, a decrease of 16 ones compared to the previous year, of whom four cases developed with AIDS and six deaths of HIV/AIDS. 

In the first half of 2019, the province uncovered 18 new HIV-infected ones and two deaths of HIV/AIDS. The HIV transmissions mainly focus among drug addicts with 87.5%.
