Consultation workshop on transfer of public services in HIV/AIDS prevention

VGP - The Viet Nam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) Project - Global Fund for HIV/AIDS Prevention joined hands with the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) to organize a consultation workshop on transfer of public services in HIV/AIDS prevention and control to share information and propose solutions on public service transfer for social organizations.

Thanks to the sponsor of VUSTA Project - Global Fund for HIV/AIDS Prevention, HIV/AIDS prevention services for drug addicts, prostitutes, men who have sex with men and trans-gender has been consolidated. 

Vice director of VUSTA project Pham Nguyen Ha said that in 2017, the project got access to and detected 2,415 HIV carriers, making up 3.7% of the number of people receiving testing service. The figure reached 2,058 ones in 2018 and 1,855 ones, accounting for 3.8% and 3.9%, respectively. 

The number of HIV carriers receiving ARV treatment was estimated at 4,459 ones in 2018 and 3,821 ones over the recent nine months of 2019 thanks to the project. 

Over the recent 10 years, Viet Nam has controlled AIDS under 0.3%, providing Methadone treatment for 60,000 drug addicts and ARV treatment for 50,000 ones.

The project has collected comments from the community to amend laws and regulations related to health insurance, legal assistance, HIV/AIDS prevention and control and draft law on transgender as well as provided free counseling through hotlines for more than 2,000 calls per year.
