Enhancing human resource management on HIV/AIDS prevention

Tuesday 09/06/2020 16:51

VGP – A seminar on launching a project on enhancing human resource management on HIV/AIDS prevention and control to soon reach 90-90-90 Plan was held last week.

The event was jointly organized by the Viet Nam Administration for HIV/AIDS, under the Ministry of Health and the University of Public Health.

The project, financed by Expertise France, will be carried out from 2020 to 2022.

Participants in the event included Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen, Departments of Home Affairs and Departments of Health and Centers for Disease Control in seven cities and provinces in Ha Noi, Thai Nguyen, Son La, Thua Thien-Hue, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong and Kien Giang.

The event aimed to establish a complete tool for human resource management in HIV/AIDS prevention and control in particular but also the whole health system in general.

Over the recent years, HIV/AIDS in Viet Nam tends to decrease, however, high risk of HIV transmissions in the community remains, especially remote and disadvantaged areas, said Deputy Minister Tuyen.

Viet Nam is the first nation in the Asia-Pacific committing to realizing 90-90-90 Plan. In 2016, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam affirmed that Viet Nam will do its utmost to control HIV in 2020 and end the epidemic by 2030.

The current status requires efficient and qualified human resources to provide HIV services and expand ARV treatment amid the reduction in the international sponsors for HIV/AIDS prevention.

The long-term goal of the project is to promote human resource management in HIV/AIDS prevention and control in the next period in 2020 and the upcoming years.
