HN continues enhancing HIV/AIDS prevention communications works

VGP – Communications and education works on HIV/AIDS prevention and control have been launched widespread in the capital city of Ha Noi over the recent nine months of 2019. 

As of August 31, 2019, as many as 27,902 HIV carriers were recorded in the city, including 21,847 alive ones and 6,055 deaths of AIDS. 

A total number of 1,032 new HIV carriers were found in August, an increase of 51.8% against the same period last year or 680 ones. 

As of June 30, 2019 1,583,816 syringes were distributed to 9,599 drug addicts, reaching 99% of the plan while 849,703 condoms were supplied for 1,610 prostitutes, accounting for 49% of the plan, 4,031 men who have sex with men, making up 69%, 8,774 drug addicts and 2,074 wives and partners of HIV carriers. 

Till August 31, 2019, the city has operated 17 Methadone treatment centers, treating for 4,945 patients, reaching 76.1% of the set criteria. 

A total number of 22 outpatients clinics have provided treatment for 14,050 HIV-infected people, making up 78.1% of the year’s plan while 9,529 HIV carriers have been treated at HIV/AIDS treatment centers under the control of the department of health, accounting for 68.1% of the year’s plan. 

The number of patients receiving ARV treatment was 955 ones, reaching 17.8% of the year’s plan. 71,438 pregnant women were tested for HIV, with 21 of them found to be HIV positive. 

In the next months of the year, the city’s department of health is striving to help 100% of HIV carriers treated with ARV have health insurance and ensure that 70% of treated patients get access to at least one service through health insurance.
