Ha Noi: 97% of ARV therapy recipients have viral suppression

VGP – As of December 2019, the capital city of Ha Noi distributed 2,128,768 free condoms to 19,220 high-risk people at health centers, HIV testing and counseling center and outpatient clinics. 

Around 2,926,917 syringes were supplied to 10,655 drug addicts, reaching 110% compared to the plan and down 20% against the same period last year. 

The city is home to 17 Methadone treatment centers, providing treatment for 4,985 patients, reaching 76.7% of the criteria assigned by the city, an increase of 133 ones compared to the same period last year. 

As many as 73 testing centers are operating in the city. 

A total number of 392,915 people were tested for HIV over the recent 11 months of 2019, including 41,864 ones tested at community, 66,013 ones tested free at health centers and 285,038 ones tested at hospitals, uncovering 2,433 ones to be positive for HIV. 

Ha Noi has made efforts in reaching the 90-90-90 Plan (By 2020, 90% of all people living with HIV will know their HIV status; 90% of all people with diagnosed HIV infection will receive sustained ARV therapy; 90% of all people receiving ARV therapy will have viral suppression).

In the reviewed period, the city detected 1,500 HIV carriers, reaching 35.8% while 1,566 ones were treated with ARV, an increase of 740 ones compared to the same period last year, reaching 29.2% of the plan. 

Meanwhile, 97% of people receiving ARV therapy or 4,645 patients have viral suppression, up 2.6% against the same period last year.
