The province’s health sector has successfully launched the prevention of mother-to-children HIV transmissions model. More than 11,000 pregnant women have been tested with HIV every year.

In the first half of 2019, four pregnant women were found positive with HIV. All HIV-infected people have been treated with ARV and received prevention of mother-to-children HIV transmissions model. The model has helped reduce the proportion of mother-to-children HIV transmissions from 15% in 2014 to 2% in 2018, lower than the nation’s proportion (5%).

Every year, more than 1,500 drug addicts have been distributed with clean syringes and 1,300 prostitutes and 1,000 MSM have received free condoms. Thanks to the support of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, around 88% of HIV/AIDS patients in the province have health insurance cards.
