Lam Dong: Nearly 43,000 people tested for HIV in 2019

VGP – Since early 2019, 42,836 people have joined HIV testing in the Central Highlands of Lam Dong, with 102 found positive for HIV, according to the province’s disease control center. 

A total number of 1,590 HIV carriers were recorded in the province, of whom four ones have developed with full-blown AIDS, raising the number of people living with AIDS to 284, while 577 people died of AIDS. 737 HIV carriers in the province are alive. 

Currently, Lam Dong Province has controlled HIV/AIDS transmissions in the community at 0.06%. However, the proportion of HIV carriers knowing their status only makes up 60% with 737 ones over 1,055 HIV carriers. 

The number of HIV carriers having health insurance has been 562, accounting for 92.7%.

During the year, 10,944 condoms and 54,000 syringes were distributed in the locality. 

The total number of drug users treated with Methadone was 735, of whom 225 ones are receiving the treatment. 

Mother-to-child HIV transmission prevention program has been launched effectively with 26,505 pregnant women tested for HIV, making up 127%. 100% of pregnant women found positive for HIV (11 ones) have been treated with ARV and 100% of children living with HIV have received ARV treatment (18 ones).
