Methadone treatment in Nam Dinh reaches 105% of set criteria

VGP – As of November 2019, as many as 4,159 alive HIV carriers were recorded in the northern province of Nam Dinh, according to the province’s disease control center. 

A total number of 1,543 deaths of AIDS were announced in the province. New HIV carriers in the province are mainly transmitted through sexual behaviors, focusing on the age groups of 20-29 and 30-39. 

As of September 30, 2019, 10 testing laboratories consulted and provided tests for 4,325 people, uncovering 60 positive for HIV. 

By October 2019, 1,317 HIV carriers had been treated with ARV, including 1,263 adults and 54 children. Those treated with ARV using health insurance made up 98.7%. From March 8, 2019, HIV/AIDS patients receiving treatment at six treatment centers funded by the Global Fund to Fight Against AIDS started using ARV from health insurance.  

Since early this year, 18,552 pregnant women were tested for HIV, with 11 positive for HIV, and 12 pregnant women living with HIV have received mother-to-child HIV prevention treatment. 

Methadone therapy continues to be launched at eight centers, providing treatment for 2,001 ones, reaching 105% of the criteria set by the Prime Minister.
