Phu Yen focuses on caring HIV-infected children

VGP – Around 95% of HIV carriers in the central province of Phu Yen have received ARV treatment, according to the province’s Department of HIV/AIDs prevention and control. 

100% of patients receiving ARV treatment have health insurance, including 158 adults and nine children. 

The prevention of mother-to-child HIV transmissions have reached 100% and the proportion of children under 18 months old provided with early diagnose has attained 100%. 

In addition, HIV testing has been launched continuously, ensuring that 100% of people having HIV test  receive pre-test counseling and all of them receive the results of post-test counseling for getting connected with HIV/AIDS prevention and control services.

The province has focused on activities on caring for children infected with HIV and disadvantaged and handicapped children such as communications programs on improving the awareness of care and assistance for disadvantaged children and carrying out vocational programs for these children.
