Thanh Hoa: nearly 4,000 HIV carriers treated with ARV

VGP – As of the end of September, as many as 3,830 HIV carriers in the central province of Thanh Hoa have been treated with ARV. 

To reduce the number of deaths of HIV/AIDS, the province’s health sector has enhanced HIV/AIDS prevention and control communications works in line with continuously improving the quality of treatment for patients, striving to realize goals set in the national strategy on HIV/AIDS prevention and control till 2020, with vision to 2030. 

The province also heads to control HIV transmissions among community under 0.3% and lessen the consequences of HIV/AIDS on socio-economic development. 

Till July 2019, a total number of 8,308 HIV carriers were recorded in the province, of whom 4,173 ones have management profiles. 

In 2019, the province organized six training courses for 300 health staffers at five districts and encourage HIV/AIDS carriers to join ARV treatment soon, with the aim of ending HIV/AIDS by 2030. 

Currently, 28 treatment and counseling laboratories in the province’s disease control centers and health centers have launched Methadone treatment, treating for nearly 3,000 patients.
