VGP – As of July 2019, 4,345 HIV carriers were recorded in the northern province of Vinh Phuc, including 3,356 alive ones.

In the first half of 2019, the province found 99 ones positive with HIV. A total number of 273,600 clean syringes were distributed to drug addicts, prostitutes and homosexuals and 190,556 dirty syringes were collected. As many as 143,689 condoms were distributed.

The province provided ARV treatment for 895 patients, including 23 children and supplied preventive treatment of mother-to-child HIV transmission for eight cases.

At present, Vinh Phuc Province has reached the goals that 85% of HIV carriers know their status, 84.4% of HIV carriers treated with ARV, which have helped prevent the transmission of HIV and reduce the impact of HIV/AIDS on the province’s socio-economic development.

The province is heading to reach the 90-90-90 Plan by 2020 (By 2020, 90% of all people living with HIV will know their HIV status. By 2020, 90% of all people with diagnosed HIV infection will receive sustained antiretroviral therapy. By 2020, 90% of all people receiving antiretroviral therapy will have viral suppression)

To reach the goal, the province aims to enhance the quality of connectivity between service packages, launch more training courses to improve the capacity for health staff and ensure more HIV/AIDS patients to receive the best treatment.
