Binh Duong: 95% of patients treated with ARV have health insurance

VGP – As many as 6,356 HIV carriers were uncovered in the southern province of Binh Duong, according to the statistics of the province’s HIV/AIDS prevention and control center. 

Currently, more than 95% of HIV carriers who are being treated in the province have health insurance. The province is heading to the target of 100% of HIV carriers receiving ARV treatment having health insurance by 2020. 

Among 6,356 HIV carriers in the province, 54.5% of whom are local people and 69.1% are male while 55% of whom were transmitted through sexual behaviors. 

HIV transmissions through sexual behaviors reached 51% in the 1993-2015 period and 49% over the recent five years. 

In the first eight months of 2019, the province detected 418 new HIV carriers, of whom 139 ones are residing in the province, making up 33.3%. 

Since early July 2019, the province has prescribed medicine for maximum of 90 days for patients receiving sustainable ARV treatment, contributing to saving time and travelling expenditure for patients.
