VGP – Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, Chairman of the National Committee for AIDS, Drugs and Prostitution Prevention and Control has required ministries, agencies and localities to focus on key tasks for effective realization of AIDS, drug and prostitution prevention and control work.

The Government Office has issued Document No.2420⁄VPCP-KGVX on key measures and tasks and the working program in 2020 for the National Committee for AIDS, Drugs and Prostitution Prevention and Control.

The Deputy PM has asked for enhancing communication works and interdisciplinary cooperation as well as mobilize resources for the work.

Accordingly, it is necessary to maintain, expand and improve the quality of Methadone treatment, pilot distributing Methadone and Buprenorphine.

This year, Viet Nam heads to expand HIV testing, striving to provide ARV treatment for 150,000 patients.

95% of all people on treatment will have undetectable levels of HIV in their body, known as viral suppression.

A number of activities will be launched such as the national action month on prevention of mother-to-child HIV transmission, the World AIDS Day and the national action month on HIV/AIDS prevention and control.

Regarding drug prevention work, Deputy PM Dam has asked the Ministries of Public Security, Defense and Finance to direct functional agencies to prepare professional networks at key regions, especially at Northwest, Northeast, Central North and Southwest.

Drug prevention forces should join hands with functional agencies in China, Laos and Cambodia to launch peak periods to seize drug trafficking cases as well as uncover cross-border trafficking cases.
