Ha Noi: 6,500 drug addicts to be treated with Methadone in 2020

VGP – Ha Noi is striving that 100% of detoxified people will be supported for community integration through vocational training and job creation this year. 

In 2020, the city aims that 90% of drug addicts have management profiles and get access to counseling, rehabilitation and treatment services. 

As many as 800 drug addicts will be sent for compulsory rehabilitation and their management profiles will be established. 

Drug rehabilitation at families and households for 600 drug addicts will be launched while 2,000 ones will be taken to the city’s volunteering rehabilitation centers. 

By the end of this year, a total number of 6,500 patients will be provided with Methadone treatment. 

The city is home to 17 Methadone treatment centers, providing treatment for 4,985 patients, reaching 76.7% of the criteria assigned by the city, an increase of 133 ones compared to the same period last year. 

Ha Noi has made efforts in reaching the 90-90-90 Plan (By 2020, 90% of all people living with HIV will know their HIV status; 90% of all people with diagnosed HIV infection will receive sustained ARV therapy; 90% of all people receiving ARV therapy will have viral suppression).

In the first 11 months of 2019, the city detected 1,500 HIV carriers, reaching 35.8% while 1,566 ones were treated with ARV, an increase of 740 ones compared to the same period last year, reaching 29.2% of the plan. 

Meanwhile, 97% of people receiving ARV therapy or 4,645 patients have viral suppression, up 2.6% against the same period last year.
