Lam Dong: More opportunities for HIV/AIDS patients to get access to health services

VGP – HIV/AIDS patients in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong have got access to health care services from the HIV/AIDS treatment, care and prevention project funded by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF).

The HIV/AIDS treatment, care and prevention project has been launched in Lam Dong Province within two and a half years from July 2019 to December 2021. 

Accordingly, the AHF has committed to providing fundamental equipment and health tools for three outpatient clinics in the locality as well as professional techniques on HIV/AIDS, opportunistic infections and condoms for these three outpatient clinics. 

In addition, the AHF finances and organizes training courses to improve professional skills for health staffs and participants joining in the project. 

According to the report of the province’s HIV/AIDS prevention and control center, HIV has focused on youngsters aging from 25-49, making up 74.3% and male accounting for 68.3%. 

Since the first HIV carrier found in the locality in 1993, the province is home to 1,590 ones, 284 ones developing full-blown AIDS and 577 deaths of HIV/AIDS. 

In the first 10 months of 2019, the province detected 51 new HIV carriers. HIV transmissions have been uncovered at all 12 districts in the province.
