VGP – The 59th annual joint maritime patrol between the Viet Nam People’s Navy and the Royal Cambodian Navy took place from June 23-24.

Ship 253 from Region 5 of the Viet Nam People’s Navy and Ship 1144 from the Naval Base of the Royal Cambodian Navy took part in the program.

During the patrol, the two sides undertook missions such as fighting piracy, smuggling, and drug trafficking; preventing illegal immigration and arms trade, and hand flag and signal lamp training that follows the International Code of Signals (ICS).

Within the framework of the joint patrol, the naval troops of the two countries also practiced signal information, lamplight-signaling, semaphore; and organized exchange activities at sea.

Thanks to careful preparations and close coordination, the 59th annual joint patrol of Viet Nam’s and Cambodia’s naval forces ended with success, contributing to protecting a peaceful and stable environment in the two countries’ historic waters, and strengthening friendship, cooperation, mutual trust and understanding between the two countries’ navies forces.

Earlier on March 12-13, the 58th annual joint maritime patrol was held between the two sides.
