AIDS, drug, prostitution prevention laws, policies completed

VGP – Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam has asked related ministries, agencies and localities to enhance AIDS, drug and prostitution prevention and control in the second half of 2019 amid complex happening of HIV/AIDs, drug and prostitution situations.

Dam has required strictly implementing directions of the Government on reducing the demands, supply and consequences of drug and prostitution. 

Press agencies are tasked to increase the duration and diversify communications and establish programs and articles heading to achieve the goal of the plan on coordination in communications works on struggling against HIV/AIDS, drug and prostitute till 2020. 

The Ministry of Public Security must enhance supervision and investigation and strictly handle  individuals and organizations that introduce, trade and encourage the use of drug and ATS on the Internet and social network. 

The Deputy PM has requested to complete mechanisms, policies and laws on AIDS, drug and prostitute prevention and control.    

The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs urgently researches into proposing the draft Law on prostitution prevention and control and the Ministry of Health continues completing and amending some articles of the Law on HIV/AIDS prevention and control and the national strategy on ending AIDS in Viet Nam.  

Measures launched to strengthen drug prevention

The Ministries of Public Security, Finance, Industry and Trade and Health are assigned to closely control pre-substances and addictive drugs during the import-export and production process and promptly prevent the illegal production of drug domestically. 

The Ministries of Public Security, Defense and Finance direct functional agencies to investigate key regions, both aviation and navigation routes as well as coordinate with relevant agencies in China, Laos and Cambodia to attack and suppress drug crimes, focusing on struggling against and busting inter-provincial and trans-national drug trafficking cases. 

The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs joins hands with the People’s Committees of Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh Ctiy and Da Nang Ctiy to pilot launching the legal and social consultancy and support models. 

The Ministry of Health guides health centers and laboratories to continue expanding ARV treatment for HIV/AIDS patients from health insurance expenditures.
