DPM asks to struggle against child sexual abuse, violence

VGP – Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam has asked functional agencies in 2019 to focus on prevention and control of child violence and abuse. 

Specifically, he has required ministries and agencies to review, establish, amend and supplement policies to ensure children’s rights in line with the Law on Children, enhance the implementation of issued policies and effectively address with violations to children’s rights. 

The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs hosts and coordinates with other relevant agencies to promote communications on improving awareness and skills of people and children on measures to protect children, struggle against violence and sexual abuse on children and measures to protect children against violence and sexual abuse through public communication methods. 

The Ministry of Education and Training directs localities to inspect kindergartens, especially industrial parks, processing industries. 

The Ministry of Public Security joins hand with the Ministry of Information and Communications to review, detect and handle advertisements that encourage youth and students to use drug and psychotropic substances, particularly through social networks as well as communicate on consequences of drugs and psychotropic substances on youngsters and students. 

The Deputy PM has demanded cities and provinces’ People’s Committee prepare resources to tackle issues related to children’s rights and realize children’s rights and timely inform violence and sexual abuse cases on children. 

Recently, a former deputy head of the Da Nang City People’s Procuracy has just been accused of sexually assaulting a seven-year-old-girl in Ho Chi Minh City.

The incident occurred on the evening of April 1 at an elevator in Galaxy 9 Apartment Building in District 4, Ho Chi Minh City.
