VGP - The Kon Tum People’s Committee on August 6 asked relevant agencies in the province to strengthen measures to prevent and combat AIDS, drug and prostitution.
The move was made in response to the rising drug smuggling and addicts as well as ineffective post-detoxified management.
The Committee asked provincial police to frequently crack down drug crimes, eliminate drug hot spots, and strengthen investigation, arrest and handling of organizations and individuals engaging in drug transport, trade and production.
The Department of Health and the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs were required to intensify inspection and control over addictive drugs, and improve drug detoxification effectiveness.
People’s Committees of districts and cities were tasked to actively allocate funds and use them more effectively to prevent and fight against AIDS, drug and prostitution.
