PM directs to launch action month on drug prevention, control

VGP – The PM has required ministries, agencies, members of the National Committee for AIDS, drug and prostitute prevention and control and provinces and cities’ People’s Committee to launch the action month on drug prevention and control from June 1-30, 2019. 

The action month, themed “think before starting” responds to the Action Month on drug prevention and control (June) and the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. 

A number of communications works on drug prevention and control, consequences of drug use, production and trafficking to each individual, family and society will be launched, focusing on drugs, meth pills and amphetamine-type stimulants (ATS). 

The Ministry of Information and Communications directs press agencies and information system to raise the volume of drug prevention and control communications and establishes and transmits drug prevention messages on social networks. 

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is tasked to organize sports activities and art performances on struggling against drug. 

The Ministry of Education and Training organizes education and communication activities on drug prevention and control at educational centers. 

The PM has asked the Ministry of Public Security to direct, supervise and review the implementation process of the action month on drug prevention and control, guide functional forces to investigate and bring to life large drug trafficking cases and drug-black sites as well as handle  individuals and organizations introducing, trafficking and encouraging the use of drug and ATS on the Internet and social network. 

The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs continues upholding its leading role in launching the AIDs, drug and prostitute prevention and control communications plan till 2020, enhancing the management and supervision of drug addicts, ensuring safety at drug rehabilitation laboratories and organizing cultural and sports activities in response to the action month on drug prevention and control at rehabilitation centers. 

The General Department of Customs strengthens measures to control drug and review customs procedures.
