The PM made that statement at his reception for Deputy Chief of the Indonesian National Police Syafruddin on September 26.

The PM hailed the achievements in Viet Nam-Indonesia relationship, especially their cooperation in launching the Viet Nam-Indonesia Action Plan in the 2014-2018 phase.

The two sides have promoted high-ranking delegation exchanges, information sharing and prevention of trans-national crimes such as drug and human trafficking, high-tech crimes and citizen protection, he said.

Viet Nam highly valued the role of Indonesia in the ASEAN Community, welcoming Indonesia to make active contribution to the regional security structure, ensuring peace, sustainable development and prosperity of ASEAN and the world, he stressed.

Regarding the East Sea issue, the PM highlighted the maintenance of peace, security and freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea, addressing disputes with peaceful measures in accordance with the international regulations, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 and respecting diplomatic and legal procedures as well as closely following the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and soon realizing a Code of Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (COC).

Mr. Syafruddin expressed his hope that the cooperation between the two sides in security will be further strengthened for local people to live in a safe environment and facilitate other economic sectors to develop.

He announced Indonesia’s stance of coordinating with other countries, including Viet Nam to maintain maritime security, safety and freedom in the East Sea in line with the international regulations.
